Choosing Your Bouquet.

Most brides tend to include their favourite flowers in their bridal bouquet. The style and colour of the bride and bridesmaids dresses chosen will have a direct bearing on the colour of flowers as well as the shape and size of the bridal bouquet's. So it is best if the bridal wear has been chosen before you make plans for your flowers.

See also our page on choosing your flowers and a florist.

When you visit your florist take with you if you can a picture of your and your bridesmaids dresses, as well as samples of the materials.

The shape of your bouquet depend to a large extent on the style of your dress and of course the overall theme of your wedding. If your wedding is formal and you are wearing a slim dress then a long shower bouquet will complement the dress best. If you choose a short full skirted dress the you would usually be better with a fuller posy style bouquet.

It is usually best to avoid an over large bouquet which can some times be rather overpowering.

Who Pays?

Usually the groom pays for the brides bouquet and her parents pay for the rest, although sometimes the groom pays for all the flowers, this subject is covered to a greater extent on this page. Expect to spend between £200 and £500 for the overall flower budget. Down load our free budget planner to help you plan your wedding budget.

Don't forget when planning the flowers it is customary to present both mothers with bouquets.

Whatever flowers you decide on, keep your arrangements to scale with the venue and occasion. A grand wedding requires more stylised floral arrangements, whilst a small reception at home could be adequately catered for with simple vase arrangements and bunches of flowers.
