Clonmel County Tipperary.

Cluain Meala
(Meadow of honey.)

Clonmel is the administrative centre of the county and a market town for the local beef and dairy farms. It is also a centre for Irish greyhound racing.

Clonmel was the headquarters of Bianconi, once the most successful coach firm in the country started by an Italian immigrant. It was an early coaching town and several 18th century coaching inns still survive. The Main Guard is a classical building partly built by James Butler, 1st Duke of Ormonde, in the 17th century.
