The Argory.

The name means the hill of the garden, the house is neoclassica and was built in 1824 by Walter McGeough on a rise overlooking a gently curving stretch of the river Blackwater The house is set in 200 acres of wooded countryside, it is lit by its own acetylene gas plant, only a few of these still exist.

The house is owned and administered by the National Trust, tours of the house are available in the summer months,

On the slopes of Slieve Gullion is a little thatched cottage folk museum, which is furnished as a traditional Armagh farmhouse.
